ADCN 0210 - Group Dynamics and Addictions I 3 Credit Hours
This course is designed to introduce the student to theories and concepts of group dynamics by providing an exploration of the patterns and dynamics of group interactions. Various methods of group counseling, which shall include the study of culturally informed, ethical, evidence-based models and approaches to group counseling; group facilitation and counseling skills; and methods for establishing group goals and treatment outcomes, is emphasized during this course. An importance placed on the groups and exercises most often utilized in the treatment of addictions. The student will be able to have the opportunity to participate in a group as a group member and to act as group leader in order to practice leadership styles.
