ECED 0180 - Developing Language and Literacy in Early Childhood 3 Credit Hours
The Developing Language and Literacy course is designed to expand students’ understanding of emergent language and literacy development and provides strategies for enhancing language/literacy experiences in an enriched environment. Topics include selection of diverse literature and interactive media, the integration of literacy concepts throughout the curriculum, appropriate observations / assessments and inclusive practices. Students will explore the early childhood language arts curriculum including speaking, listening, writing, and reading skills. Students will create plans and materials for use with children with linguistic, cultural and ability diversity.
Pre-requisites: ECED0100 level courses must be completed prior to ECED0200 level courses or completed in the concurrent semester.
