INRW 0100 - Integrated Reading and Writing


3 Credit Hours

This course integrates reading and writing skills preparation. Students in this course will read and respond to a variety of college-level texts while receiving supplemental support. Students who are placed into this class will learn about reading strategies, including active reading, locating main ideas, supporting details, sentence-level grammar, vocabulary in context, and the basics of genres. Students will simultaneously complete the expected learner outcomes for this course and ENGL-101 while developing academic reading and writing proficiency and critical thinking skills.

Co-requisites: Placement is based on multiple measures, including standardized test scores. Students who score between 227 and 241 in either the Reading or Writing sections on the Accuplacer or earned a “D” or lower in most high school English classes will take INRW-0100 and ENGL-101 concurrently.
Notes: Students must also enroll in a corresponding section of ENGL 0101
