KBOR Program Alignment: The Kansas City Kansas Community College Physical Therapist Assistant program is in alignment with the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) CIP code 51.0806: Physical Therapy Technician/Assistant. A program that prepares individuals, under the supervision of a physical therapist, to implement physical therapy treatment care plans, train patients, conduct treatment interventions, use equipment, and observe and record patient progress. Includes instruction in applied anatomy and physiology, applied kinesiology, principles and procedures of physical therapy, basic neurology and orthopedics, physical therapy modalities, documentation skills, psychosocial aspects of health care, wound and injury care, electrotherapy, working with orthotics and prostheses, and personal and professional ethics.

Mission

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program, in accordance with the mission of Kansas City Kansas Community College, is dedicated to supporting each student in developing the knowledge, skills, and professional behaviors necessary to successfully practice as a physical therapist assistant. 

Requirements for Admission to the Program

  • This is a selective admission program. Application to the program does not constitute admission.
  • Minimum 2.75 GPA in program required courses and completion of pre-requisites (* below).
  • Application deadline is  April 15th for Fall start and October 15th for Spring start.
  • Contact program advisor for application, full requirements, and program-specific advising.
