Medication Aide

This course is designed that through academic training the student will be able to pass certain medications in the long-term care (LTC) community under the supervision of a Licensed Nurse. While in training, the certified medication aide student will pass medication in the LTC under the supervision of the instructor, who is a Registered Nurse. Once all academic and clinical training are completed, the student will take the state certification test.  Kansas Department on Aging and Disability Services requires 75 hours for CMA. KCKCC requires 90 hours due to college credit requirements. Certified medication aides must complete 10 hours of continuing education every two years, per Kansas Department on Aging and Disability Services guidelines to continue passing medication. Students must pass a background check to complete the clinical portion of the course.

 

Requirements for Admission to the Program


  • Students must have an active Kansas Nurse Aid certification for duration of the course
  • Students must be 18 years old on the first day of class
  • Students must meet the correct placement measure of this course
  • Contact program coordinator for advising
