The Respiratory Care program prepares students to become competent entry-level RRT-AAS graduates as defined by the National Board for Respiratory Care.

CoARC accredits respiratory therapy education programs in the United States. To achieve this end, it utilizes an ‘outcomes based’ process. Programmatic outcomes are performance indicators that reflect the extent to which the educational goals of the program are achieved and by which program effectiveness is documented. The Kansas City Kansas Community College Respiratory Therapy Program, CoARC number 200412, AAS degree, located at 7250 State Avenue, Kansas City, KS is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (www.coarc.com).

Requirements for Admission to the Program

  • This is a selective admission program. Application to the program does not constitute admission.
  • Minimum 2.50 GPA and completion of pre-requisites.
  • Applications are accepted beginning in February for Fall start and September for Spring start.
  • Contact program coordinator for application, full requirements, and program-specific advising.

**Math sequence is contingent upon previous high school mathematics background and transfer institution. Students should confer with an advisor to determine correct placement.

Course Sequence


Respiratory Care program sequence is subject to change without notice.  Up to three general education classes may be taken concurrently with the Respiratory Therapy classes during the first two semesters of the program.  It is best to have all Math and Sciences completed prior to beginning the program.
