Philosophy, as the love of wisdom, analyzed the most fundamental issues of the human condition, issues concerning the nature of the human person, justice, the possibility of the existence of God and human freedom, the significance of political and moral values, and the question of knowledge and truth. Philosophers from Confucius and Aristotle to Leopoldo Zea and Jacques Derrida have investigated, as the axial human problem, how philosophical education is to help us in developing our own humanity. Thus, philosophy enables students to examine the most crucial topics of their social and political existence, advancing their skills in logical thinking, verbal and written argumentation, and the capacity for organizing principles and ideas. If our democratic system is to endure, we must debate true and false claims, right and wrong values, and just and unjust decisions. This why philosophy, as the pursuit of knowledge, virtue, and freedom, has traditionally formed the core of a liberal arts education. For that reason, philosophy offers exceptional preparation for work politics, law, governmental administration, writing, journalism, and education.
