The Firefighter certificate is offered as a catalyst for students who seek employment with a fire department. Students will complete the basic courses required by most fire service industry organizations.

Students must be 18 years of age and successfully complete the KCKCC Fire Academy courses to qualify to take the Kansas Hazardous Materials Awareness & Operations and Firefighter I & II certification tests.

Requirements for Admission to the Program

  • Accuplacer score of 243 or above in reading comprehension.
  • Contact program coordinator for program-specific advising.
