EDUC 0160 - Introduction to Teaching: Career Awareness (T►)

3 Credit Hours

The goal of the course is increased awareness of self in relation to the roles of teachers and other K-12 teaching professionals. Career opportunities in education are considered, with an emphasis on what it means to be a professional teacher in today’s high stakes environment of education. This course provides a well-rounded view of the teaching profession. Field experience is an important component of the course. It consists of twelve practical observation hours at school elementary, middle, and secondary levels. These practicum hours may also include interactions with practicing school professionals. Discussions in the course will attempt to connect the foundations of education to field experience.
