ECED 0180 - Developing Language and Literacy in Early Childhood


3 Credit Hours

The Developing Language and Literacy course is designed to expand students’ understanding of emergent language and literacy development and provides strategies for enhancing language/literacy experiences in an enriched environment. Topics include the selection of diverse literature and interactive media, the integration of literacy concepts throughout the curriculum, appropriate observation, assessment, and inclusive practices. Students explore early childhood language arts curriculum including speaking, listening, writing, and reading skills. Students create plans and materials for use with linguistic, cultural, and ability diversity children.
