ECED 0100 - Introduction to Early Childhood 3 Credit Hours
Introduction to Early Childhood Education covers the foundations of the education profession, diverse approaches and educational settings, professionalism, and developmentally appropriate practices for all children. Topics include historical foundations, program types, career options, professionalism, and creating inclusive environments and curricula responsiveness to the needs of all children and families. Students will be introduced to observation methods and roles to support teaching. The course requires a minimum of five observational visits to a variety of educational settings consisting of a NAEYC-accredited program or licensed family, group, center, Head Start, faith-based, public, or private pre-k -grade-3 settings. Students must be prepared to observe and visit five different settings for a minimum of a total of ten hours.
