PSYC 0206 - RESEARCH METHODS IN PSYCHOLOGY 3 Credit Hours
Psychology is the scientific study of behavior and mental processes. This course focuses on the essentials of scientific reasoning, basic research methods and conventions in the science of psychology. Students will demonstrate an understanding of how to consume and utilize peer reviewed studies, both verbally and in written form. Students will be required to evaluate claims made by popular media and basic scientific literature. An overarching goal of this course will be the acquisition of the necessary intellectual tools needed to distinguish between psychological science, pseudoscience, and non-scientific knowledge. Permeating this course will be the ethical responsibilities and codes of conduct relevant to psychological research.
Pre-requisites: PSYC 0101 - PSYCHOLOGY (T►) .
